There are moments in life that remind us why persistence matters. They reveal the strength behind every long night, every setback, and every decision to keep moving forward when stopping would have been easier. Watching my son’s journey over the past few years has been one of those reminders.
A couple of years ago, when he began applying to universities, he had a clear goal. He wanted to attend Florida State University. When the initial outcome did not align with that dream, it would have been understandable for him to feel discouraged. Many people would have paused. Many would have changed direction. He chose a different path.
He enrolled at UCF and committed himself fully. He became an excellent student. He completed his AA degree in a single year. He invested his time helping other students improve their SAT math scores. Every action reflected discipline, focus, and a strong internal engine that does not slow down.
A few days ago, he received the news he had been working toward since the beginning. He was accepted to Florida State University for the Fall 2026 term. The letter welcomed him into generations of pride and tradition. It marked a milestone earned through character and perseverance.
What stands out most is not the acceptance itself, but the journey that led to it. Success rarely arrives in a straight line. It is shaped by the moments when things do not go as planned. It is built by the people who choose to rise again, who choose to learn, and who choose to keep moving forward even when the path is uncertain.
